Application Process

Students wishing to apply for a scholarship must first complete the standard UA6 online application form.  Once this has been completed, they must then complete the separate application form for the scholarship.  The purpose of this application form is to assess the candidate’s suitability for the scholarship pathway and the highly competitive careers and further education this leads to.

The main areas of the scholarship application are:

  • What are your aspirations and ambitions for the future?  How do you think that being on the scholarship pathway will help you achieve your goals?

  • How has your work ethic and approach to study developed over time?  How will you ensure that you are successful at sixth form?

  • Please tell us a little about any special interests you have.  This could be any extracurricular achievements you have or areas where you have gone beyond the normal school curriculum.

  • What contribution do you think you will make to our sixth form?

  • External candidates need to upload a copy of their predicted grades or their most recent school report.

All applications will be considered carefully on their merit with a small number of students being invited to an interview that forms the second stage of the selection process.

Successful candidates will be provided with a written conditional offer to join the scholarship pathway and receive the UA6 scholarship for study in September.  The condition of the offer will be achieving the GCSE grades stated in the letter (or better).

Applicants should note that successful applicants will achieve the majority of their GCSE grades at grade 8 or 9.  Individual offers may differ based on the subjects applied for and performance across other areas of the selection criteria.
